Red Wings Work Boots: An
American
Anchor That Has Stood
The Test Of Time |
It was the dawning of
the twentieth century and the awakening of industrilization
in America. Prosperity was in the air for many Americans as they landed
jobs in factories and mills in the north and northeast section of the
country. Thousands and thousands of factories had sprung up all along
the east coast and continued to spread all around the country.
Immigrants from all over Europe and many other parts of the world
poured into America looking for work and a much better way of living
than they had previously known.
The demand for
workers
seemed to increase with each passing day as more and more new
industries seemed to have emerged out of the sunset. With the many
technological advances America had begun to make a fast and swift move
from being an agrarian society to an industrialize nation
that
was rapidly making ground breaking discoveries that would lay the
foundation for America to become a super nation in just a very short
time.
Day and night
twenty-four hours a day, everyday of the week American industries
continued to produce more and more without let up. From small
mom
and
pop operations to large industrial plants like Ford Motor Company
production lines ran non stop around the clock. The demand for goods
produced in the United States was unprecedented here at home and
abroad. America was experiencing a time of economic growth and
prosperity unlike any other time in her past. America was growing at an
unbelievable rate and in every sector; however, with growth can
sometimes come harsh realizations that had to be addressed.
With America hard
at
work it became quite apparent that many of the workers wore footwear
that was totally inadequate for working; not to mention specialize
footwear for specific work that would later be introduced. Charles H.
Beckman was an
entrepreneur who envisioned crafting quality work boots that would be
comfortable to work in and suitable for the particular work being done.
He chose to use quality materials along with fine craftsmanship to
build a work boot that not only protected the workers' feet but would
prove to be comfortable all the while offering support to not only the
feet but the whole body as well; thus, this would be the beginning of
Red Wing work boots in Red Wing, Minnesota.
Although
initially
Red Wing only produced a few work boots each day but within a
decade they would be producing over 200,000 work boots per year and be
responsible for providing footwear for the military in both World War I
and World War II. Over the years Red Wing work boots have
evolved technologically without sacrificing the fine
craftsmanship that has become their hallmark all around the world.
Their commitment to providing top quality footwear has been unwavering
for over a hundred years. They have built a name that is synonymous
with quality work boots that you can count on to provide comfort as
well as safety.
It's true that
the
industrial age has all but been replaced with the new super sonic
computerize space age technology that's in place today; however, it's
still good to see an old icon standing just as strong today as it did
over a hundred years ago. Even in a computerized world like we live in
there are still workers who need quality work boots that are made to
withstand working in rigirous environments like the coal mines in West
Virginia;
chemical plants in southeast Texas; steel mills up and down
the east coast, and yes, in factories all around the U.S.A
from
sunup to sundown
just like they did at the dawning of industrilization in
America. And just like then you can be sure that Red Wing work boots
will be right there today; the foundation on which the American worker
can continue to stand just like they did one hundred years
ago.
Thanks Red Wing.
